ABOUT US

Welcome to our HAPPY school!

Imperial Heights Preparatory School follows the National Curriculum for England and Wales providing a British-styled education to children from early years through to year six. Our curriculum is peculiar in integrating our national culture and values to provide international quality of education to children, equipping them to become global citizens. Curriculum meeting holds at the start of the school year. Parents are intimated with the academic plans for the year and procedures laid out. This meeting besides being a great learning resource for parents, enables them to better support their children when they have understanding of what children will be undertaking in the course of the year and expected outcomes.
Formal reports are sent home at the end of the first half of term one and at the end of each term subsequently. Parents are encouraged to attend the Parent Teacher Conference (PTC) after reports are sent home to discuss their child’s progress.
Homework is an integral part of a child’s learning as it helps retain concepts taught during the day as well as extend their learning. As part of the school’s program, homework will be given to children matching their mental and physical capabilities. Please, lesson teachers, nannies, and parents are not to do the homework for them. We ask that you ensure a conducive study environment and supervise/ nudge them on where they get distracted. The homework given is to be done and turned in on due dates.
While every child may not be an academic genius, there is something each will enjoy doing and may excel at. Co-curricular activities afford every child this opportunity to enjoy something out of the usual class routines and this becomes a vital part of a child’s development. The school has the following on offer presently with room for more eclectic miss as the year progresses:

  • ::: Art & Crafts
  • ::: Bead Making
  • ::: Book Club
  • ::: Chess & Scrabble
  • ::: Drama
  • ::: ICT

OUR ETHOS

Our ethos is informed by the speech of Martin Luther King (jnr).

“The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. But education which stops with efficiency may prove the greatest menace to society. The most dangerous criminal may be the man gifted with reason but no morals. … We must remember that intelligence is not enough. Intelligence plus character—that is the goal of true education.” —Martin Luther King Jr., speech at Morehouse College, 1948.

At the core of our ethos are;

*CHARACTER *COURAGE *CREATIVITY

OUR VISION

:: To make Nigeria the to-go place for gold-standard education.
:: To be one of the schools with the most notable alumni in the world.

OUR MISSION

:: To build children who will be able to hold their own, become global citizens with a zest for life.
:: To develop a total child spiritually, mentally, physically and socially.
:: To empower children to take on the world, provided with courage to face the storm.
:: To build their creativity to produce from dirt, gold and from rocks and stones, precious quarts.
:: To raise a crop of eager, happy, life-long learners who have intellectual might, and with character create anything out of nothing.
:: To develop such character that children have a heart that feels humanity, making things better than they met it.
